Kilauea Volcano's Recent Eruptions: A Recap

The Kilauea volcano on Hawaii's Big Island erupted for the third time this year, with lava flows currently confined to the surrounding crater floor. The eruption does not pose a threat to communities, but volcanic particles and gases may cause breathing problems. The U.S. Geological Survey (USGS) elevated the volcano's aviation color code to red and its volcano alert from watch to warning.
