"Comanche Fire Continues to Spread Near El Rito Despite Containment Efforts"

Fire crews have managed to hold the Comanche Fire within its containment lines despite Red Flag conditions. The fire will continue to burn, but the final acreage will be less than the 10,000-acre focus area due to changing weather and vegetation drying out. Smoke may be visible from several communities, and temporary road closures are in effect for safety during firing operations. The cause of the fire was lightning, and cultural/historical sites are at risk.
