During the 2024 New Year's celebrations in Honolulu, eight people, including three children, were treated for severe firework-related injuries, some resulting in disfigurement. Despite a decrease in the number of injuries from the previous year, Honolulu Emergency Medical Services reported a significant impact on the victims. Meanwhile, the Honolulu Fire Department responded to an increase in firework-related fires, with 23 fires compared to eight the previous year, including structure and brush fires. However, none of these fires escalated to two-alarm status, and immediate responses helped contain the damages.
