On New Year's Eve, just before midnight, a white Subaru WRX crashed on 71 Highway in Kansas City, Missouri, after hitting the center guardrail and flipping over. Both the driver and passenger, who were wearing seatbelts, died at the scene. The accident led to a temporary closure of the northbound lanes for about two and a half hours.
