Fulton County Prosecutors Seek Speedy Trial for Trump Racketeering Charges

Fulton County prosecutors in Georgia have requested a trial date of October 23, 2023, for former President Donald Trump's racketeering charges, in response to a demand for a speedy trial by one of Trump's codefendants. The demand seeks to have the trial take place within the term of the grand jury that issued the indictment. However, the proposed timeline seems unlikely due to expected pretrial motions and legal complexities. Three defendants are also seeking to transfer the case to federal court. The decision now rests with Judge Scott McAfee.
