"Former Judge Slams Trump Lawyers for 'Stunningly Stupid' Move"

Retired California Superior Court judge LaDoris Hazzard Cordell criticized former President Donald Trump's attorneys for making a "stunningly stupid" argument in a court filing, attempting to delay Trump's criminal trial over the Jan. 6 insurrection until 2026. Cordell deemed it inappropriate for the lawyers to reference the landmark 1932 Supreme Court decision Powell v. Alabama, as the cases were dissimilar and it alienated Judge Tanya Chutkan, who set a trial date for March 4, 2023, stating that it does not delay the case like the mob's actions.
