Ronnie Long, who spent 44 years in prison after being wrongfully convicted of rape and burglary in 1976, has reached a $25 million settlement with state and local law enforcement officials. The city of Concord, N.C., acknowledged "significant errors in judgment and willful misconduct" that led to his wrongful conviction and imprisonment, and issued a public apology. The settlement includes $22 million from the city and $3 million from the North Carolina State Bureau of Investigation.
