Multiple Lawsuits Filed Against Norfolk Southern Over Train Accidents

The widow of a Norfolk Southern employee killed in a railway accident in Alabama has sued the company for negligence resulting in his wrongful death. Walter James Griffin III was working as a conductor trainee when a metal beam protruding from the car of another train crashed through the window, killing him and seriously injuring the conductor. Norfolk Southern has also been hit with multiple class-action lawsuits from residents in and around East Palestine, Ohio, after a train carrying toxic chemicals derailed, causing untold environmental damage. The company has paid out more than $20 million in reimbursements and investments for residents and has committed to setting up a long-term medical compensation fund for East Palestine residents.
