A federal judge has placed a preliminary injunction on a Florida law banning minors from attending drag performances, citing that the restrictions implemented by the act were too broad and violated first amendment rights. The judge also used previous laws passed by Governor DeSantis, including the "Parental Bill of Rights," to support his decision. The law, dubbed the "Protection of Children Act," would have allowed fines, suspensions, or revocations of licenses for establishments admitting minors to adult live performances. The DeSantis administration plans to appeal the decision.
