Families of Buffalo shooting victims file wrongful death suits against social media giants.

The families of three victims of the 2022 mass shooting at a Buffalo grocery store have filed a lawsuit against social media companies, including Meta, Snapchat, Discord, Reddit, 4chan, and YouTube, for allegedly radicalizing the teenage gunman, Payton Gendron. The lawsuit claims that Gendron was motivated to commit the crime by racist, anti-Semitic, and white supremacist propaganda fed to him by the social media companies whose products he used. The suit also names Amazon, which owns Twitch, the site Gendron used to livestream the massacre, and the gun dealer and body armor company he purchased from. Gendron was sentenced to life in prison without parole in February.
