Tragic Loss: Rowan Co. Sheriff's K-9 Succumbs to Heat Exhaustion

A K-9 named Kantor from the Rowan County Sheriff's Office in North Carolina died from heat exhaustion in a tragic accident. The dog was left in a patrol vehicle with the engine running and air conditioning on, but the engine shut off, causing the temperature inside the vehicle to rise. The handler's family member, who was unaware of the K-9 protection system, failed to activate it, resulting in the dog's death. The sheriff's office has conducted an investigation and implemented policy changes to prevent similar incidents in the future. Kantor's remains now ride in the passenger seat with his handler.
