The New Jersey Attorney General has taken over the Paterson Police Department, including the division that investigates internal police matters, following concerns about how the department was being run. The takeover comes less than a month after officers fatally shot a well-known crisis intervention worker during a tense standoff. The community will rally to reignite calls for justice for their loved ones. The state is committed to safety in the city and a New York Police Department veteran will take charge of Paterson's police department in May.
