Federal Appeals Court Overturns Ban on Drug Users Owning Guns

A federal appeals court has ruled that a decades-old law prohibiting users of illegal drugs from possessing firearms is unconstitutional. The court cited a 2022 Supreme Court decision that changed the framework for analyzing gun restrictions. The ruling means that the conviction of the man who challenged the law will be thrown out, and other defendants within the court's jurisdiction could seek to challenge their convictions as well. The law in question was also alleged to have been violated by Hunter Biden in a proposed deal with the Justice Department.
