Florida Supreme Court Issues Reprimand to Judge in Parkland Shooter's Trial

The Florida Supreme Court has publicly reprimanded Judge Elizabeth Scherer, who presided over the death penalty trial of Parkland school shooter Nikolas Cruz. The reprimand comes after a Florida commission found that Scherer's conduct at times appeared to favor the prosecution. The jury ultimately declined to recommend the death penalty, resulting in a life sentence for Cruz. Scherer resigned from her position as circuit judge in May.
