US Implements Border Restrictions to Combat Illegal Entries

The US has closed a border crossing in Texas to vehicles and limited traffic at another crossing in Arizona in response to increased levels of illegal entries. The closures and reductions in vehicle entries are aimed at shifting more resources to address the ongoing migration surge. The Border Patrol's Tucson sector, which includes the remote desert crossing in Lukeville, has become the busiest sector along the US-Mexico border. The staffing cuts to legal trade and travel are a response to the demands for processing individuals who cross the border illegally, often to seek asylum.
