"Golden Retriever Meetup at Boston Marathon Finish Line Honors Spencer"

Dozens of golden retriever owners gathered at Boston Common for a meetup and "Golden Strong" walk in honor of Spencer, the beloved Boston Marathon dog who recently passed away at the age of 13 after battling cancer. The event aimed to raise awareness about canine cancer and support research, with 20% of proceeds from the sale of Golden Strong bandanas donated to the Morris Animal Foundation's hemangiosarcoma and canine cancer research. Spencer's niece, Penny, also succumbed to cancer shortly after his passing. The meetup was organized by MA Golden Meetups and included a meet-and-greet with Boston Marathon runners, as well as the unveiling of a statue of Spencer near his usual spot along the marathon route.
