Austin couple backs UT's planned medical center with $100M gift

An Austin couple, Tench and Simone Coxe, donated $100 million to UT Austin’s planned academic medical center—one of the university’s largest gifts—funding a hospital for complex conditions and a site for MD Anderson Cancer Center. The unrestricted gift will support the project regardless of whether it sits downtown or near The Domain, with completion targeted for 2030. The donors were inspired by a friend’s cancer-care journey and endorsed Claudia Lucchinetti’s leadership for UT Medical Center and Dell Medical School.
