New Jersey School Districts Implement Early Dismissals for Solar Eclipse Safety

Several school districts in New Jersey, including Livingston, are announcing early dismissals today due to safety concerns related to the solar eclipse. Officials are worried that unsupervised students could potentially look up into the sun during dismissal, risking eye damage. The eclipse is expected to start around 2:10 p.m. and end at 4:36 p.m. The American Academy of Ophthalmology warns that looking at the sun without proper eye protection can cause permanent retina damage and even blindness.
