"New College of Florida students organize alternative graduation in protest of changes and speaker"

Graduates of New College of Florida will hold an alternative commencement ceremony in protest of the conservative takeover of the college by Governor Ron DeSantis. The alternative ceremony will be a private event held at an undisclosed location in Sarasota. Graduates wanted a ceremony where they could have freedom of expression and feel celebrated without the influence of the college’s conservative leadership. The alternative ceremony will feature Maya Wiley, president of the Leadership Conference on Civil and Human Rights, as the keynote speaker.
