Higher Learning Commission Reviews MSU Accreditation

The Higher Learning Commission is conducting a review of Michigan State University's accreditation following a complaint filed by the faculty senate. The review is in response to allegations that the university's board chair violated accreditation criteria by accepting favors from donors and interfering in university affairs. Losing accreditation would jeopardize MSU's federal funding and ability to offer financial aid. MSU has 30 days to respond to the concerns raised, and the university's Office of Audit, Risk and Compliance is also investigating the board chair's actions.
