"Western NC Reservation Embraces Legalization of Marijuana"

The Eastern Band of Cherokee Indians reservation in western North Carolina has voted to legalize the possession of marijuana, with 2,464 people voting in favor and 1,057 voting against. The tribe is already in the process of converting an old bingo hall into what is said to be the world's largest cannabis dispensary store, which could employ up to 400 people and offer around 350 products for sale. Supporters believe that legalizing marijuana will bring tourism and financial benefits to the tribe, while some remain concerned about potential abuse of the system.
