"Firestorm Engulfs Sacramento Area Following Fourth of July Festivities"

Fire agencies in the Sacramento area responded to numerous fires, many of which were caused by illegal fireworks, following Fourth of July celebrations. The Sacramento Fire Department reported 12 structure fires and 15 grass fires within the last 24 hours, with two structure fires likely caused by fireworks. There have been no major injuries reported in Sacramento, but the Sacramento Metropolitan Fire District responded to 130 fires in the county, along with four fireworks-related injuries. In Contra Costa County, fire crews in Antioch responded to 58 fires, suspected to be caused by fireworks, and treated one serious hand injury.
