YouTuber Receives 6-Month Prison Sentence for Staging Plane Crash

YouTuber Trevor D. Jacob has been sentenced to six months in prison for obstructing an investigation into a plane crash he intentionally orchestrated in Southern California. Jacob, who had mounted cameras on the plane and equipped himself with a parachute, video camera, and selfie stick, planned to eject himself from the plane during the flight and record himself parachuting to the ground as it crashed, all in an effort to promote a wallet in one of his videos. He removed the wreckage from the crash site and destroyed it, hindering the investigation. Jacob pleaded guilty to destruction and concealment with the intent to obstruct a federal investigation and will surrender to authorities by January 29.
