Virginia mother indicted for 6-year-old's school shooting.

The mother of the 6-year-old who shot his first-grade teacher at Richneck Elementary in Newport News has been indicted by a grand jury on charges of felony child neglect and misdemeanor recklessly leaving a loaded firearm so as to endanger a child. The Commonwealth's Attorney has also petitioned for a special grand jury to investigate security issues at the school that may have contributed to the shooting. The child is not expected to face charges. The teacher who survived the shooting has filed a $40 million lawsuit against the school district, alleging gross negligence and reckless breach of duty.
