Suspect apprehended in deadly Thanksgiving morning collision in Des Moines

A Des Moines man, Shawn Michael Bowersock, has been charged with Homicide by Vehicle after a passenger in his car was killed during a police chase. Bowersock attempted to flee from authorities in a vehicle displaying fraudulent license plates but lost control and crashed into a ditch. The passenger, Connie Allison, was pronounced dead at the hospital. Bowersock has also been charged with other offenses, including possession of a controlled substance and driving with a suspended license.
