Police Mistake UNLV Shooter for Bystander, Unknowingly Direct Him Out of Building

Police body cam footage released by the Las Vegas Metropolitan Police Department shows two officers unknowingly directing the UNLV shooter, Anthony Polito, out of the building, mistaking him for a bystander. The officers, searching for the suspect and victims, shouted at Polito to exit the building without realizing he was the gunman. Polito later pulled out his weapon and was killed in a shootout with university police officers. The motive for the shooting remains unclear, but Polito had been in financial trouble and was turned down for a teaching job at UNLV and other Nevada schools. Three professors were killed in the shooting, and one visiting professor was wounded.
