Pentagon Official Arrested for Running Brutal Dog Fighting Ring

A Department of Defense official, Fredrick D. Moorefield Jr., has been charged with running a dog fighting ring under the code name "GeeHad." Moorefield allegedly used encrypted messaging to discuss training dogs for illegal dogfighting, betting on fights, and concealing his activities from law enforcement. He is also accused of disposing of two dogs with injuries consistent with dog fighting. Moorefield's involvement in a larger dog fighting conspiracy called DMV Kennels has been alleged, and at least 12 dogs were seized from his properties. If convicted, Moorefield could face up to five years in federal prison.
