Multiple Individuals Convicted and Sentenced for Involvement in Jan. 6 Capitol Assault

A married couple from Ocala, Florida, known for their involvement in the QAnon movement, have been sentenced to prison for their participation in the January 6 Capitol assault. Jamie Buteau received a 22-month sentence for assaulting an officer, while his wife Jennifer received 90 days for demonstrating in the Capitol building. They were among the 105 Florida residents charged in connection with the attack, with 37 pleading guilty and 13 convicted at trial. The couple's appearance in a 2018 QAnon documentary helped tie them to the violence. The threat of extremism, fueled by conspiracy theories and grievances, continues to persist, according to experts.
