Mother and Son Sentenced to Home Incarceration for Aiding in Theft of Pelosi's Laptop on Jan. 6
Maryann Mooney-Rondon and her son, Rafael Rondon, have been sentenced to 12 months and 18 months of home incarceration, respectively, for their involvement in helping a Jan. 6 rioter steal former Speaker of the House Nancy Pelosi's laptop. The duo was identified by Sedition Hunters, an online community investigating the Capitol rioters, and were recorded leaving the Capitol with stolen escape hoods. The pair was mistakenly identified by the FBI, leading to the incorrect raid of another individual's residence. Rafael Rondon confessed to assisting in disconnecting cables from Pelosi's laptop, while Mooney-Rondon admitted to providing gloves to the thief. They both expressed remorse in court, with Mooney-Rondon claiming she participated because it was the "easiest thing to do." The man who stole the laptop has not been arrested.
