Maine Man Accused of Killing Parents and Friends After Prison Release

A 34-year-old man, Joseph Eaton, has been charged with four counts of murder after killing his parents and two of their friends in Maine. He then began shooting at cars on a nearby highway, injuring three other people. Eaton had recently been released from prison after serving a two-year sentence for aggravated assault. He confessed to the killings and shooting at the Halseys’ car because he suspected them of being police officers who were following him. No motive has been released by authorities. Maine law prohibits someone with his criminal history from possessing a gun.
