Indiana University student stabbed in federal hate crime.

A woman in Indiana has been indicted on a federal hate crime count for a racially motivated attack on an Indiana University student of Chinese descent. The woman allegedly attacked the victim with a knife due to her race and national origin. The defendant already faces state charges of attempted murder, aggravated battery, and battery by means of a deadly weapon. Her defense attorney claims she has a long history of severe mental illness and no known racist attitudes or history. The victim suffered puncture wounds in the head.
