Fugitive Child Rapist Captured After Jet Ski Prison Escape

Samuel Hartman, a convicted child rapist who escaped an Arkansas prison on a jet ski, has been captured a year later at a Quality Inn in Lewisburg, West Virginia, along with his wife, mother, and mother's boyfriend. Hartman's wife and mother allegedly helped him flee while he was on a work detail, opening fire on a corrections officer as he ran to get inside a pickup truck. They then used jet skis to escape, which were later found abandoned on the Mississippi side of the river. Hartman was apprehended covered in blood, and it is unclear how he sustained his injuries. The family members now face charges and are expected to be extradited to Arkansas.
