Florida Men Sentenced for Capitol Riot Involvement: Jail Time and Prison Sentences Handed Down

Michael Steven Perkins, a Florida man, has been sentenced to four years in prison for using a flagpole to attack officers defending the U.S. Capitol during the January 6, 2021, riot. His co-defendant, Joshua Christopher Doolin, received one year and six months. Both were convicted of various charges, including felony civil disorder and entering a restricted building. Perkins was separately convicted of assaulting a federal officer with a deadly weapon. Three other co-defendants have been arrested, while one remains at large. Over 1,100 people have been arrested in connection with the Capitol breach, with more than 350 charged with assaulting or impeding law enforcement.
