Four Philadelphia men are facing federal charges for the theft of over 2 million dimes from a tractor-trailer that had picked up the coins from the US Mint in Philadelphia. The theft, part of a series of robberies from tractor-trailers passing through the region, also included stolen frozen crab legs, shrimp, meat, beer, and liquor. The stolen dimes, valued at $234,500, were converted into cash at coin machines in Maryland or deposited into suburban Philadelphia banks.
