$200,000 in Dimes Stolen in Philadelphia Heist, Suspect Image Released

Approximately 2 million dimes worth $200,000 were stolen from a tractor trailer parked at a shopping mall complex in northeast Philadelphia. The dimes were picked up from the US Mint in Philadelphia and were organized into 15 pallets. The driver had planned on transporting them to Florida. The thieves broke into the truck overnight and stole approximately $200,000 worth of dimes. The police are searching for 10 or more males in black clothing and gray hoodies, as well as a white Chrysler 300 with tinted windows and a dark-colored pickup truck. The US Mint has implemented countermeasures to prevent similar thefts in the future, and the Philadelphia Police Department is conducting an investigation.
