A clothing designer in Los Angeles recognized his ex-girlfriend, Jennifer Inzuza Vargas, in a viral tweet from the FBI asking for information about a woman in a pink beret who allegedly participated in the Capitol riot on January 6, 2021. The designer submitted a tip to the FBI, and they confirmed Vargas was the woman they were investigating. The designer said he ended the relationship after learning about Vargas' far-right politics and interest in Hitler's "Mein Kampf." At least 1,003 people have been charged in connection to the insurrection.
