Deadly Police Pursuit Ends in Shootout with Suspect in Kane County

A carjacking suspect and a K-9 dog were killed in an exchange of gunfire after a police pursuit that began in South Elgin and ended in Batavia, according to the Kane County Sheriff's office. The suspect had fled from officers from various other agencies just days earlier. The K-9 dog, named Hudson, was a longtime servant of the department and was deployed during the incident. Both the suspect and the K-9 were rushed to local hospitals, where they were pronounced dead.
