Paul Flores, convicted of the murder of college student Kristin Smart, was stabbed at a California prison for the second time in a year. The attack, which took place in the recreation yard at Pleasant Valley State Prison, is being investigated as an attempted homicide. Flores, who was injured in the stabbing, was transported to a medical facility and later returned to the prison in fair condition. The inmate suspected in the assault has been placed in restricted housing, and two suspected inmate-manufactured weapons were recovered. Flores is serving a 25 years to life sentence for the murder of Smart, who disappeared in 1996.
