Child welfare agencies monitored family involved in fatal Westchester parkway crash.

The six minors involved in a fatal car crash on a Westchester parkway were all related and being investigated by Connecticut's child welfare agency. The 16-year-old unlicensed driver had permission to drive the rented SUV, according to a relative. The victims, aged 8 to 17, were on their way to Connecticut when the driver became distracted or fell asleep behind the wheel. The family had recently moved to Derby, Conn., and had not yet enrolled in school. The incident is still under investigation.
