Lenora Dennis, who intervened to defend the couple, likened the scene to a "war scene" and called on community leaders, police, and parents to act together to prevent such incidents from happening again. While Mayor Lightfoot argued that the majority of young people came downtown to enjoy the city, Dennis disagreed, saying that the situation was "mayhem."
