California Mountain Lion Attack: Fatalities and Injuries

A mountain lion killed a 21-year-old hunter and injured his 18-year-old brother while they were hunting for shed antlers in a remote area of Northern California's foothills. The younger brother reported the attack and was found with traumatic injuries, while the older brother was found deceased with the mountain lion crouched over him. Deputies euthanized the mountain lion, and the brothers have not been publicly identified. This is one of nearly two dozen reported mountain lion attacks on humans since the mid-80s, with the last fatal encounter occurring in 2004.
