California Man Convicted of Brutal Samurai Sword Beheading of Ex-Girlfriend

A California man, Jose Solano Landaeta, has been found guilty of first-degree murder with the use of a samurai sword in the beheading of his ex-girlfriend, Karina Castro, a mother of two. The attack took place in broad daylight last September. Landaeta's attorney claims that his client suffers from schizophrenia and had a psychotic break at the time of the incident. Castro's father expressed relief at the verdict but emphasized the loss of his daughter. Landaeta is facing 26 years to life in prison and will be eligible for parole after serving his sentence.
