Arrest made in fatal hit-and-run crash on I-95 near Massachusetts-Rhode Island border

A Cranston man, Joseph Pompei Jr., has been arrested for allegedly fleeing the scene of a deadly multi-vehicle crash on I-95 in North Attleboro. He is facing charges of motor vehicle homicide by negligent operation and leaving the scene of an accident resulting in death, among others. The crash involved a Buick LaCrosse driven by Pompei, a Cadillac Escalade, and a Jaguar. One person was killed, another is in critical condition, and two others are in stable condition. The incident prompted the closure of all lanes of traffic on I-95 North for several hours. The investigation is ongoing.
