Former New Bedford interim Fire Chief Paul Coderre was killed in a shootout with police outside the Bayside Lounge in Fairhaven, Massachusetts, after a reported altercation. An officer was also injured in the incident but has since been released from the hospital. Coderre had been previously fired for dishonesty related to work injuries.
