Trevor Bickford, a 20-year-old radicalized Islamic jihadist, pleaded guilty to terrorism charges for attacking NYPD officers with a machete near Times Square on New Year’s Eve 2022. He faces up to 120 years in prison for slashing three officers during the annual celebration, expressing intent to commit jihad and kill as many people as possible. Bickford had become radicalized and planned the attack domestically after initially considering joining the Taliban overseas. His sentencing hearing is scheduled for April 11, 2024.
