I-40 bridge rescue operation concludes with no one found.

Memphis Fire Department attempted to rescue a person who was on a beam underneath the I-40 bridge, but were unable to locate anyone. The eastbound lanes of the Hernando DeSoto bridge were closed, and drivers were asked to take I-55 as an alternate route. Meanwhile, traffic on I-55 was slowed due to a separate fatal accident. The I-40 bridge was shut down for weeks in 2021 after a large crack was found in a metal beam.
