The pilot of a private plane that crashed in Virginia, killing all four people on board, was seen slumped over in the cockpit by fighter jets that intercepted the aircraft after it crossed restricted airspace over Washington DC. The cause of the crash is still under investigation, but it is believed that the cabin may have depressurised gradually, causing the passengers and pilot to lose consciousness. The wreckage is said to be "highly fragmented" and investigators are combing through rural Virginia to assess it.
