Fatal Fuel Tanker Crash on Connecticut Bridge Leaves One Dead and Several Injured

A home heating oil truck driver was killed in a rollover crash on the Gold Star Bridge that sparked a massive fire and shut down Interstate 95 in both directions for nearly two hours on Friday. The crash caused the truck to spill about 2,200 gallons of oil, immediately igniting with thick, billowing smoke that could be seen for miles. Two other people sustained what are believed to be minor injuries. The southbound lanes remained closed into Friday night as a state Department of Transportation team waited to inspect the bridge.
