First West Nile Virus Death Reported in Yolo County for 2023

Yolo County in California has reported its first West Nile virus death of 2023, marking the first reported death since 2018. The county's public health branch has identified eight cases of West Nile among residents this year, up from three cases in 2022. Yolo County emphasizes the importance of preventing mosquito bites, especially during peak activity times, as one in every four mosquito samples in the county is testing positive for the virus.
