Fatal West Nile Virus Outbreak Claims Two Lives in DuPage County

Two residents of DuPage County, Illinois, have died from West Nile virus, marking the first casualties related to the illness this year. Six human cases have been reported in the county so far. Symptoms of West Nile virus include fever, headache, body aches, joint pains, vomiting, diarrhea, or rash. People over 60 and those with serious health conditions are at higher risk. Health officials advise draining standing water, using insect repellent, wearing protective clothing, and avoiding outdoor activities during peak mosquito activity.
